This gorgeous couple’s story reads like a love story straight from a movie or hit tv show. Megan and Michael met in grade school, became friends in middle school, started dating in high school and had a long distance relationship once they started college. Through the long distance relationship and challenges, these two lovebirds have remained inseparable. From Megan:
How We Met: Technically, we met in 4th grade when Michael was on my brother’s hockey team. Our families would carpool to hockey tournaments together and Michael, Corey, and I think it was Nate would chase me and Mackenzie around the hotels and pull pranks on each other’s hotel rooms. After the hockey season ended, we didn’t meet again until 6th grade when we both attended John Adams Middle School. We remained great friends until Freshman year of high school when we started dating on May 16th (yes, I still remember). I have to lend some credit to Michael’s sister for setting us up and helping him ask me to just about every formal dance in the coolest ways possible. From there on we learned a lot about each other, learned even more about ourselves, faced some challenges with a long distance relationship, and above all, couldn’t stay away from each other.
How We got Engaged: On Thursday, March 31, 2011, I got off of my bus/shuttle that takes me to and from work and there was a rose stuck under my windshield wiper. I was a little confused because my grandma sometimes leaves little notes and things on my car and I thought it somewhat awkward that she would leave one red rose? As I continue into my car, there sat a note….The note that began the mini scavenger hunt….
Note #1 read: Easy as 1…2….3…ONE rose for you being ONE in a million, Megan Marie! Next stop: Garage.
Note #2 (in the garage attached to 2 roses) read: Easy as 1….2…3…TWO roses for us being TWO peas in a pod! (A saying we use often). Next stop: Front Door.
Note #3 (on our front door above 3 roses laying on the welcome mat) read: Easy as 1….2….3…THREE minutes, THIRTEEN candles, and THIRTY THREE rose petals away from making this whatever we want it to be. I LOVE YOU!
As I nervously opened the door, I walked up the candle lit and rose petal covered staircase to find Michael at the top. He was all dressed up, tie and everything. He walked over saying everything a girl could dream of hearing at that particular moment, as well as trying to remember everything he was nervously forgetting to say. He bent down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. After excessive tears, hugs and kisses, I finally said, “YES!”
Needless to say, we were able to share our news with everyone on April Fool’s Day, which led to a little confusion.
