Minneapolis Engagement Session by Karen Feder

11 Jun

This couple met in a chemistry class at the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities.  With their shared love of science and many common interests, they quickly became friends, and their friendship eventually blossomed into a romance.  For their engagement session, the couple chose to visit their favorite places around Minneapolis and bring their dog along with them.

Whimsical Modern Wedding by Karen Feder Photography

29 May

This whimsical modern wedding took place at Cafe and Bar Lurcat in Minneapolis.  How gorgeous is the detailing of this bride’s Demetrios fit and flare wedding dress?  I adore the yellow and gray color palette and sophisticated modern vibe of the urban venue.  The couple made their day especially memorable and unique by hiring a painter to create a piece of artwork during their reception to remember their special day.  What a creative idea!

From the Photographer: It never intended to happen (well it really never does!).  Ryan was in his hum-drum of every day life at the office, when by chance he met Kelly.  She was kind-hearted and had many of the same interests as he did.  After a couple of months of passing by chance at the office, the two decided to go out for drinks and ended up talking for 4-5 hours.  A few days later Ryan called Kelly for their official first date.  Not too long after that, the couple planned a trip up to northern Minnesota to view the changing fall leaves.  A year later they decided to go on that same trip.  On the first night Ryan went out for “groceries” and decorated the bonfire pit at the resort, got a fire going and tried to calm his nerves while Kelly was unpacking in their room not knowing what was going to happen next!  When Ryan came back, he escorted her down to the pit and proposed!

DIY Outdoor Red Wing Wedding from Karen Feder Photography

8 May

A picturesque meadow was the perfect setting for this outdoor Spring wedding at the groom’s parent’s home in Red Wing.  Along with help from their family and friends, the couple completed many DIY projects such as the homemade apple jelly favors and vintage door displays incorporated into the ceremony and reception decor.  The green and white color palette is so crisp and refreshing.

From the Photographer:
“Happy Birthday!” He said as she stepped in the car! ”Thanks, where are we going?” She replied with a kiss and a look of questioning. ”Surprise.” Michael replied slyly and they took off. After arriving to one of Lindsay’s favorite places in the Minnesota fall, the apple orchard, she gave him a hug and a big thank you! Even though the sky was overcast and looking like it might rain, she didn’t care. Being that it was a weeknight and that the weather was not so great, the orchard was theirs. They strolled around the orchard talking about their day and reminiscing about their time together. Coming to the middle of a grove of trees, Michael looked at Lindsay, got down on one knee and asked if she would be his wife! With tears in her eyes and a gigantic smile on her face, she replied “YES!!” After some other talk, the wagon appeared and the two had their own private birthday/engagement celebration around the orchard!

Lindsay’s wedding day was just as joyous! Perfect weather, perfect company and perfect day. A celebration planned in the private meadow of Michael’s parents was the perfect backdrop for the May wedding. So many DIY details made the day perfect ranging from the fun facts on the quaint town of Red Wing to the apple jelly that Lindsay and her mother made as favors for the guests to the doors that she made for the aisle entrance. The 9 nieces and nephews that roamed the meadow rung bells just before Lindsay walked down the aisle and as she and Michael were announced husband and wife. Their late night snack of sliders from White Castle (Michael’s favorite!) arrived in the middle of drinks and dancing and the couple ran through an array of sparklers as they left for the evening.
