Although Jana and Paul are from different continents, their paths happened to cross. Jana is from Germany and met Paul while she was staying with her cousin in the Unites States. These two lovebirds personalized their engagement session to reflect two of their favorite past times. The photo shoot begun with a vintage red bike along the gorgeous grassy bluffs in Duluth. Then, the couple headed to a local ice cream shop, PortLand Malt Shoppe, for delicious cherry topped malts.
From the Photographer: Jana hails from Germany and Paul comes from the small town of Arkansas, WI. The two met while Jana was studying in Minnesota and living at her cousin’s house.
They are head over heels about each other, and this shoot involved two of their favorite past times: biking and eating ice cream. We began the session by staging a vintage beach rider along the bluffs of Duluth, MN. It was a hilarious start to the shoot as Paul was being really hyper and walking super fast with the bike, while Jana was semi-scolding him in her German accent…telling him to slow down so he wouldn’t get sweaty for the pictures. Ha! The first time I sat down with these two to talk about their wedding, Paul informed me that his second true love (next to Jana) would be caffeine. Apparently, he had downed two Red Bulls already before our 11am meeting. He was reeeeaaaly enthusiastic throughout the entire meeting! Jana was trying not to laugh at him while giving him the eye roll every now and then. When you see them together, it is more than obvious that they are truly in love. Their chemistry is awesome. It’s always a joy to be around them!
Anyway, the second half of the shoot took place at the PortLand Malt Shoppe (also in Duluth). Jana and Paul flirted as they fed each other malts…in a very messy manner! The globe you see in a couple of the pictures will be used as centerpieces at their wedding. One heart lies in Germany while the other remains in Minnesota. (Jana made these!)
